Hi gang. Not been on here for a while, so I thought I'd come back with a rant. Now I'm in deepest dark Peak District I went to Squires biker cafe the other day. An hour and a half ride over the moors and up the M1 to Leeds. Got there and the food was cheap enough (£1.60 for a lge pasty) and asked the minimum spend on a card: tenner, she said. A BLOODY TENNER!!!
Then I asked if they had a cash machine. Yes, it's £1.95 to make a withdrawal. Hmmm. The more I thought about it the more I realised all they want to do is make money the cheeky way - why sell just coffees when you can deliberately corner the market and bully your customers into having a meal? Pressure selling, or what. I drank from my waterbottle and left quite annoyed at this marketing ploy. I'm sure it's worked for them. Good luck to em, but they ain't bullying me into a sit-down meal. I went to Tescos and rode back across the moors, smiling. With sticky bbq chicken around me chops.
Incidentally, anyone around this area fancy a meet up I get too much time off!!!

You could have saved yourself some grief by calling at a cashpoint before arriving

Sorry Kraut, I agree with Johnny. I'm not sure that being charged to use a cash point (that happens in loads of places) or a minimum spend on the card warrants an anticlimax...?
Hope the ride was good though

I never leave home without cash in my wallet, in fact I always have an emergency tenner stuffed into my inner jacket pocket.
I'd have treated you to a brew and a pasty.

+1 I never leave home to go on a ride without at least a tenner in cash and the plastic. (thumbs)SteveW wrote:I never leave home without cash in my wallet, in fact I always have an emergency tenner stuffed into my inner jacket pocket.

I would never leave home with out some cash on me,went out the other week round town for a few pints and one of the lads bought his own all night ,but used his card to buy a pint of £3.75 seven times so if that's the norm ,no wonder it takes ages to get served in a pub these days.

Always have some cash; however if I can pay by switch I usually do. Keep the emergency tenner for another day. Big but..if they say they take Visa there should be no minimum spend
