I was up there in Mid July 14 for 9 days and weather was great and no midgies - maybe I was lucky. I had heard all the horror stories, bought all the lotions and potions and pleased to say took them home unopened

I find April and May are often the driest months on the west coast.

As far north as you can go in the UK. 400metres or so of wet moorland then a cliff and sea all the way to the ice of the North Pole, Muckle flugga lighthouse is a tiny white dot on the rock in the sea - about 3/4 mile away in reality.
