FS 2008 F800GS £2,750

Post by Fordy »

For sale; 2008 F800GS £2,750 OVNO. It will be sold with the following aftermarket parts included in the sale; SW Motech crash bars, SW Motech centre stand, Mudsling, Barkbusters, BMW alloy bash plate, Cameltoe side stand enlarger, Hyperpro progressive springs front and rear (-25mm). The front wheel has been re-laced with SMPro Platinum rim, which is stronger than OEM, after I hit a rock in the Hindu Kush*. Any other aftermarket parts seen in the photo’s may be available on request.

Bought from UKGS'ER in the summer of 2011 this has taken me all over Europe for fun, and around the M25 a few times for work. It was originally yellow and black, but the tank panel had been scratched and rattle canned satin black by the previous owner so I had all the panels professionally re-sprayed in BMW Alpine White with replacement graphics from 2 Wheel Humvee applied under the lacquer. Currently just under 72,000 miles, which is barely run-in compared to some on the UKGE'ER site :D

Price reflects the mileage, and the fact that people sensible enough to consider a well maintained vehicle will not pay the same money as a 10,000 miler, regardless of the condition or how many farkles you throw in. The aftermarket bits I am selling with it are either a PITA to change (the forks, OEM available) or should really be factory fitment in my opinion (the protection).

This has been a reliable workhorse and maintained regardless of cost. For example last year one of the heated grips failed and I had both replaced as the rubber was worn on the still functioning grip.

Full service history:
11/03/2008 Pre-delivery check Clark’s BMW
30/03/2008 605 miles Clark’s BMW
18/09/2009 10,078 miles Automotor BMW
08/07/2010 11,161 miles Vines BMW
19/09/2011 15,983 miles Churchill Motorcycles
11/05/2012 20,823 miles Churchill Motorcycles
16/05/2013 27,857 miles Churchill Motorcycles
15/03/2014 34,351 miles Churchill Motorcycles
16/06/2014 41,857 miles Churchill Motorcycles
06/09/2014 48,244 miles Churchill Motorcycles
05/12/2014 54,033 miles Churchill Motorcycles
17/04/2015 59,985 miles Churchill Motorcycles
19/08/2015 67,479 miles Churchill Motorcycles

It is MOT’d until next August. There is about 10,000 miles left on the Anakee 3 tyres, and the chain and sprockets were changed in August with DID parts which have been maintained by a Tutoro chain oiler. Also in the last year I’ve had all the bearings changed; wheels, rear sprocket carrier and headstock, and all fluids changed the year before. The engine shims have been checked at the prescribed service intervals and have always been within tolerance. Rear brake pads were replaced just a few weeks ago.

I can’t begin to describe what a brilliant bike this has been. As you can tell by the mleage, I’ve used it for what it was built for and it’s given me a lot of fun along the way. The reason I’m selling is that, because it’s been so brilliant, it’s given me the confidence in the product to buy a new BMW.

*I really ran over a brick on a dark stretch of M1, but everything else on here is a true and honest statement E&OE.

Fordy.....if I didn't already have two of these fantastic bikes I'd have yours like a shot!
It's a great opportunity for someone to buy a class motorcycle that will take you across Europe and far beyond the end of the Tarmac, For the cost of a 400cc trail bike.
Someone's going to get a bargain.
