As a Scot who's got old enough to have spent more than half his life in England, trust me, that beef should also be water under the bridge.

When Maggie Thatcher died there were Scottish students celebrating in the streets who were unborn or babies when she was in power.

I used to live in a village in Central Scotland that is famous for its protestant / catholic divide, an outcast from some members of my own narrow minded family because I married a French (Catholic) woman! Orange marches where the teenagers marching didn't understand why they were doing it, they just hated because dad and grandad both hated. Stones were thrown at your car if it was green, or blue, depending what part of town you were driving through.

It was an education in England that allowed me to see past the bigotry, and move away from it.

There are many in Scotland who will hate me just for making this post. They wont read it and evaluate whether I have a valid point. I'll just be a traitor.

If there's beef with England today, then fine, lets discuss what the problem is, but lets leave leave the past in the past (And leave Mel Gibsons portrayal of Willam Wallace and Edward Longshanks in the fiction section where it belongs).

Nowhere in England are Scottish people set upon in pubs, just for being Scottish.

Scotland has a problem it needs to address.

Sorry to hijack your MotoAl. I'll just go and cause chaos somewhere else :S
In all fairness I don't think I helped, and it is a shame he got banned if he's just having a bad day and lost it a bit, it happens to us all.

But he did over step the mark a bit (the same as me I suppose :( ) and I still stick by what I said even if it was a little close to the grain. Also not sure if it was a hijack as its pretty much what this thread is about :pinch:
Interesting. The reason I jumped in was it looked a bit like Al was getting bullied (not that I think he can't take care of himself) and I'm not having that but equally I'm not lowering myself either, I wasn't quite as eloquent as I'd hoped.
Equally you jumped in when I was taking heat. Thank you.

Anyway Al I had a look at the forth bridge thing and you made a tiny joke or jibe that was not worth making a fuss over.

The SNP thing is history and no worries. And having studied the history of Scotland I can see why the Scottish have some beef with us down here.
He wasn't being bullied and he's a grown up so does he need people 'stepping in'? One thing Al is never slow to do is raise his heritage as a banner...playing the victim soon after does him no favours.

yeah I'm not overly eloquent and as about as subtle as a brick but sometimes people just need it pointing out they've gone too far, taken things to seriously or taking themselves to seriously, myself included.

As for the Scottish beef, christ guys how longs it been, surely there's bigger worries at the minute than all that, or smaller worries, or just generally anything else. Lets face it, in the past lots of people invaded other people, killed, robbed raped and pillaged a lot of other people, from pretty much everywhere, so why cant we all just let things go and talk like adults and sort stuff out for now and the future without the burdens of the past creeping in (thumbs)

Peace hombres

Gawd.... same old, same old....
Moto Al pushes peoples buttons, gets a reaction from someone, then plays the innocent victim and tells us all we should stick to talking about bikes.
Now someone has been banned.

Unbelievable.

For God's sake don't encourage them.

Reread history, they should have greater beefs with themselves IMO.

And No, I'm not having a dig, just expressing my opinion.

This forum is vile. Most of you could have an argument in an empty room. Full of playground bullies & self righteous armchair experts that jump on anybody who may be individual or have a different opinion to them. If you are not in the click you are ignored or abused. I have got to the point that I feel I need to make an abrasive comment just to get a reply from anybody on here. Luckily I frequent another forum that attracts normal people that enjoy riding motorcycles and not bigoted ego stroking tossers as can be found here. I apologise to the few good folk that do frequent this place, but you are the minority as far as I can tell. I do wonder how some people manage to get through the week being how they are... must be hell ! I am so glad I have cancelled my subscription to the mag as it would piss me off to knowingly support such a fucked up group of people !

What did the romans ever do for us :P

just because it's December that does not mean you can't actually go out side and ride your bike, there is not an automatic ban soon as the "D" month start

people hold on to their past to give themselves an identity get over it live for today

I went to a bike ralley a while back staying in a bunkhouse the guy sharing my room left because I was Irish and came from a family with a "Catholic" history great I thought got the room to myself

If people want to be like that ferk em (thumbs)

Mrs has a friend who has married an Irishman out of Dublin who never talks to me because I have been in the military ferk em (thumbs)

now if you want to hear a story of persecution just speak to a "ginger" haired kid with freckle and god forbid glasses as they are called locally "Foxpiss"

get on ya bikes (thumbs) take some vitamin "D" supplements

cheers Spud ;)
