It would be interesting to see if anyone using the remapped software has seen this problem.
Shite modern fuel goes off really quickly, added to a discharged battery causes issues, fouls plugs and causes the plugs to track out resulting in a weak spark,
I see it a lot with bikes being used infrequently

Phoned Yamaha UK today, spoke to a very pleasant technical guy who said that he had not heard of the hard start problem on the Super Ten and that Yamaha were not working on/doing a flash update to correct the problem.
He also said that they did not do flash updates on the super ten and had not issued the corrective action that is on the super ten forum link.
He did take the reg and VIN number of my bike so he obviously is going to enter a note into his computer system.
As you know a software bug is something that occurs in a random sporadic manner.
A software feature is something that occurs in a regular predicable manner.
My data suggests that it is 250 starts since the last fault,so now logging every start.
I think you can guess why.
Will speak to my Yamaha dealer Alan Duffus next week on the subject.
I also rang Yamaha UK when my Super Ten failed on several occasions and they told me they had never heard of this difficult starting. Hello! When I said it was mentioned numerous times on various forums Worldwide, the guy said it was not substantiated and implied forums were there for idle gossip!! He didn't seem to take anything I said seriously and told me to take it to my dealer (difficult when it didn't start) and I wasn't going to start paying for the transportation.
I ended up dreading going into the garage fully togged up in case it didn't fire up. I've sold her now and bought a Honda Crossrunner.
Spoke to off the road guys in Koln to see if they knew of this problem, response below;
Dear Sir,
thanks for your inquiry.
We have never heard of this problem. I used google for a short overview, This problem seems to be on less than 0.05% of all Teneres. So not really a problem we can spend research on.
Also it seems that this is a problem that may occur on all fuel injected vehicles like cars, quads, bikes…
It got me thinking that the variable results may be due to the way that we are starting the bike.
Some people use the kill switch, switch the bike on, kill switch off and hit the starter.
I do not do this as I think that seals in the kill switch will wear due to frequent use and start letting water in.
I usually switch the bike on, wait until the display settles and then hit the starter.
So will try switching the bike on and hitting the starter immediately.
This problem does not happen on my CBF1000 and XT660Z but hitting the starter immediately is just what happens when you start the car.
