So yesterday I bought myself a little project bike to restore over the winter and beyond :unsure: Been a long time since I had a 2T so today I set about checking her over, the bike was running, just about, and starts first kick, but a few things were needing tidied up including the fuel and oil lines which were starting to split. So I set about replacing the oil feed pipe from the pump to the carb with a clear piece of tubing so I can keep an eye on oil reaching the engine. when I fired her up after, I noticed that no oil was travelling up the tube to the carb, so decided to pressurise the oil tank and hold the throttle wide open (engine turned off)but still nothing.I then fitted a big syringe to the carb end of the tube and tried to vacum it through but still no joy.Theres oil reaching the pump, but just wont go from pump to carb, Any ideas why this could be?

long time since I had my rd125 but as I remember the oil pump is like a vacuum type thing rather than a rotating wheel with fins.try filling the pump to carb pipe with oil using the syringe as the pump might not be able to push oil up the air locked pipe,then run the engine on tickover and pull the oil pump cable to max until it starts smoking.as I recall you set the pump up using a feeler gauge,too much oil will lean out the mixture and cause problems the same as too little oil

Run on premix temporarily, usually there's a way to prime the oil pump.
On my aprilia loosen the banjo an let the oil run as far as possible under gravity.
Then run the engine with the 2 stroke oil lever set to flat out. Soon pumps the oil upto the carb.
