OK, I've got a 64 plate Versys 1000 and it is a very good and underrated bike, quick, reliable, pretty good on fuel but ugly as hell.
BMW have an offer on at the moment for a new GSA for a great price.
The thing that I like about the GSA is the big fuel tank, the looks and the shaft drive.
I keep hearing about reliability concerns but personally I think it's just due to them selling so many the reason why we hear more about it.
The deal ends at the end of October so I will have to do it soon. I'll also have to get rid of the Versys as it is too similar to the GSA.
Why wouldn't I buy one?
The bottom line is which ever magazine, paper, internet review they all say that the GSA is the bollocks. All these people can't be wrong can they?
So, talk me out of buying a new GSA....

Have a go on either an 1190 KTM or if you want the brute power have a go on a 1290.

I went through the same indecision 5 years ago
Bought the twin cam 30th Anniversary GSA & never looked back - Bloody brilliant
Never had anything serious go wrong with it - rear wheel ABS sensor, a fog lamp switch, & a bit of paint blistering on a rocker cover - all replaced straight away under warranty without a quibble
Only reasons I'm not going for a new LC GSA is that I still love riding this one, & if I get myself an S100XR, I can talk myself into keeping the twin cam as well (thumbs)

Another viewpoint...
My husband has just gone from a GSA to the the GS....and loves it much more (he did love the GSA too, despite all the crap he had with his initial one, which resulted in BMW eventually swapping it out for another new one...)
Reasons....well the extra size fuel tank was actually not a lot of use when riding with others as a) no one else had a similar range b) his bum and brain (they might be located in the same place B) ) gave out well before he ran out of fuel so he had to stop anyway.
The other reason was weight...he's not a huge guy but with a full tank the GSA is a blooming heavy bike to try and push around on the occasions when it's unavoidable....
However, as others say...if you can afford it, why not? You won't know if you don't try it...

Let's say you're in Morocco....your side stand switch throws the towel in. Because it will, at some stage.
It shuts down All the brakes the ABS System.
Get outta that one in time for the ferry home!!
