The new Triumph 1200 adventurer

Post by Alun »

The Triumph PR machine has turned up the drip feed on the new 1200 adventure to medium flow in this weeks MCN.

According to the text an 'MCN Reader' took 'one shot' of the new prototype parked up on a col in France though spookily MCN feature two shots; one parked up and another on the move in scenery which looks nothing like a col in France. Anyway, here's what we now know;

It's going to be called the 'Adventurer'
It'll have a shaft drive
New 1150 or 1180 Triple engine
Single sided swingarm
Class leading torque
BMW style sub frame
Choice of front mudguard – high or low fit
Big tank

Looks like we'll have to wait for 2012 for the launch, or maybe late 2011

Check out Triumph's web site here;

http://triumphadventure.com

From the clips in the videos on there, it looks like it's chain driven? Either way I've always been a Triumph man and rather excited to see the new machine.
Adventure motorcycling is a challenge for those who go but only a dream for those who stay behind.

That's not the 1200 that's the new 800.

I'll guess this one at £9995.00.
Not including luggage.

Going a bit off topic and going back to the new 800; I just watched the link vids on the Triumph site and it is, of course, vague with any details but seems promising in the list of characteristics it claims they'll offer:

- Decent comfort
- Decent range
- Decent luggage capacity
- Decent suspension

We'll see if they actually deliver, but they also mention two bikes.

It seems they'll be making one for on-raod biased riding and one for off-road biased riding. That could well be the first manufacturer acknowledgement of the adventure "styled" bike for those who want the look and adventure bike for those who have actual overlanding in mind...

Up until now most ADV bikes have been aimed at the former leaving the latter with a heap of tinkering to do to get the bike as they need it!!...

If so, well done Hinkley...
