does zero for me another big heavy bike that won't see much dirt for most owners. Might as well keep my heavy thug 955

I'm a big fan of Honda and believe they make the best engines .

However for me sadly this new bike is a Africa Twin by name only .

It's a pity that Honda did not keep more of the looks of the original bike.

I'm sure it will sell if its priced right.

But ...It kind of reminds me of another renamed Classic.

I'm already underwhelmed so far, I tried a KTM Adventure 1050 at the weekend, let's hope the @T is as good - but knowing Honda it'll fall short, but still people will buy it

The Honda might be a good compromise for travel on both paved and unpaved roads, but nobody has seen or ridden that bike yet. It all depends on the weight, if I would dare to take it out on the trails in the woods.

I am in the lucky situation to have space for two bikes, so for me the perfect combination is

- CCM 450 for the dirt (tried some unexplored trails last weekend, got stuck and really enjoyed the low weight, when I needed to lift the back out of a sh...hole!) and
- KTM 1050 for onroad touring. I recently also tried some well-graded dirt roads, which works ok as long as the ground is not wet and soft. We have plenty of unpaved roads here in Sweden, so as soon as the original rubber is gone the bike will get some new TKC70 which should work for well for those roads. But never ever will I take that heavy bike on unknown trails in the woods!

So lets wait for the official presentation of the new AT - this might really be the perfect compromise if you need one to rule them all!

That's a great combination, Nordicbiker!

I know all about the CCM of course but that KTM 1050 has caught my interest. Seems more like a no-nonsense bike devoid of the toys that I don't want.

I like it and they have really talked it up. It is going to have to be something special but it does look small for a 1000cc bike. Maybe that will bode well for weight etc.
