My DRZ400s - work is now complete
Re: My DRZ400s - work is now complete
An update now that I have my luggage options sorted
I chose the Mmoto rack with Touratech hoops so I had a choice of hard or soft luggage
Fitted with Ard cases and the rest in a Lomo 40ltr bag

Re: My DRZ400s - work is now complete
Since then I have added a Peli (type) case for tools, tyre levers, pump spare tubes, U-lock, spares, waterproofs etc now permanently fitted to the rack
Panniers are Motobag 20-50lts each, 100% waterproof
I like my creature comforts when camping so have a full cook kit, water bottle, camping chair, Phad X3, 2 carpets, tarp plus spare poles, groundsheet, 2/3 season Coleman Fission X vario, clothes bag, toiletries, shoes. All of this is in the panniers - total weight 22kgs
panniers holding approx 44 ltrs per side. My Lomo bag is only holding my camping bed and thermal roll mat 5kgs. There's still room in the bag for my jacket or body armour.

Re: My DRZ400s - work is now complete
All in the bike fully fueled and loaded weighs 176 kgs
The Motobags are carrying the weight lower so it should handle better
Will get to try this out later in year
Overall I am pleased with the set up
I like that I can make the panniers thinner with the compression straps but still have the carrying capacity volume

That just keeps getting better everytime I see it. I thought it would look out of place with Ardcases but it doesn't, actually looks better with hard than soft - clean & functional. Keep up the incredible work and we'll expect the trip reports to be equally amazing, please

I agree Stuart about the look and cleaner lines of the Ard cases (off my RD04 Marathon) but want to go with soft luggage and keep the weight lower. Nice to have a choice thoughpeterpan241 wrote:That just keeps getting better everytime I see it. Ard cases are 33 ltrs each + 40ltrs in the Lomo bag (106). No room for my jacket or body armour though
The Pooratech panniers I have on the RD07a are 28ltrs each + the 40ltr Lomo bag (96)
Motobags are 44 each side and I still have most of the Lomo bag empty
