950 adv head wobble

Thanks for the replies folks.

Its interesting that some people never get this while I know of at least ten people who do while many other online also report this.

The wobble is consistent no matter what the load be it single or two up.

The front wheel runs true and free.

There is no binding

I run 34 psi front and 37 back as per the book.

Under braking it's fine and only there when slowing down from 50 mph with hands off the bars.

As I get to 47mph the shaking starts getting bad and is gone by 40mph. Again bar shaking at this exact speed is a common reported fault.

I'm going to change the tyres as I don't remember it with the MT21 It had when I bought it.

I've got an OE fitment front tyre you can have to put on it if you want...it didn't make my bike wobble.

Thanks but I have OEM tyres already...there are many reports that they cause wobbles but i'm guessing it's other things as well.

Yes Ollie it did but it's a bit worse now that the bearings are smooth.

My 690 was fine fully loaded with tkc80s on, i changed the rear for a mefo and it gained a violent wobble at 70mph, i tried everything with no luck, i was getting a scotts damper anyway but even that didn't cure it, the movements are that minor with head wobble that the damper does not feel it, the only thing that cured it was changing the rear tyre so the front is not always to blame, the rear im guessing changed the height of the bike so it messed the geometry up, dropping my yokes on the forks helped a little to tip the weight forward (thumbs)

My 990 did this on worn Scorpion OEM's, on new ones there was no problem, but 50%+ worn and it used to do it on deceleration. Changed to Mefo SE's and no problem since change, although not that worn yet.

I have seen this on bikes with Pirelli Scorpions especially when the front is worn. My mate even had it on his brand new bike with Scorpions on, soon as he changed the front to a MT21 it disappeared.

I had Scorpions on my bike when I bought it, never used them since as I didn't like the feel of the bike with them on.

yep, front tyre is to blame. i had exactly the same thing on my varadero and after changing tyre brand it disappeared

Yes folks I know this is a common problem but what is your like and what have you done to fix it.

Mine give a violent bar shake when slowing down from 50 to 35..worst around 45mph.

I've just out new steering bearings in so everything is much smoother now making it a bit worse.

I'm not spending hundreds on a damper either.

I have the OEM tyres on which I know makes it worse.

All ideas welcome.

IT'S THE TYRES

Them Scorps have a definite hit and miss quality to them, some wobble some don't, they all get worse when half worn, change em for K60's and the wobble will go.
