Hello team, just looking for your own experiences.
I have a Klim overland jacket which is great for when it's p*ssing down, but not great for when you need a phone, keys, wallet, camera etc in the pockets (there are 4) and not great for when it's 30 degrees plus, and you're bombing it around off-road.
I'm sure I should have bought the Latitude, but I'm not spending another £500 now.
I'm after something light, with lots of pockets that I can chuck a Gore-tex poncho over the top for when it really rains, good ventilation for touring in summer in Europe.
Cheap or second-hand would be good (I'm a medium)
Any thoughts would be much appreciated.
Cheers, Steve.

Well, funny I'm getting advice from a Glaswegian, as I'm sat in a cafe on Sauchiehall Street!
Might think of that, there was an armour shirt on eBay for £50 but I'm not hot on the power ranger look!
I need the pockets, really. No tank bag!

Have a look at the Revit stuff at FC moto. Seems quite nice and reasonably priced (thumbs)

Can confirm ... Revit is good budget kit (thumbs) but ... pockets do tend to tear open when dragged down tarmac under body weight at more than 30mph :pinch: :whistle:rodrigoscs wrote:Have a look at the Revit stuff at FC moto. Seems quite nice and reasonably priced (thumbs)

Pockets are great Thumper but some advice from a rider that uses his bike as a mobile office as well as a projectile of fun.......buy yourself a tank bag. Not so much for the 'if you crash your phone will stab you through the heart killing you instantly' but the fact that it's all in one place & easily to hand.
When I throw my waterproofs on it's a faff & a half to get to anything in the jacket. Just a thought

With enough profanity, you can accomplish anything

Armoured shirt and enduro jacket? Sounds like just what I need for hotter climates this summer.
I ended up riding in T shirt crossing France and Belgium last year on the way home.... not ideal but passing out with heatstroke seemed the most pressing risk at the time..... I also found its illegal to ride with bare arms in Belgium :S
Any links to what to look for would be appreciated (thumbs)

If you Google something like 'Armoured motorcycle shirt' or (if you want some ideas from America) something like 'armor motorcycle shirt' you'll find lots of links to look at. Thereafter, it's down to you what you think is best.Diesel Pete wrote:Armoured shirt and enduro jacket? Sounds like just what I need for hotter climates this summer.

Similarly, if the OP Googles something like 'Best ventilated motorcycle jacket' lots of links will pop up. I myself quite like the Americam RevZilla video reviews of products. OK they are American but they are reasonably well put together compared with the frequent bumbling offerings from British vendors. They are certainly enough to give anyone some ideas. Given that some American states have summer temperatures that would make France or Belgium look like the inside of a cold box, the Americans are well served with choice; worry not, most of the vendors will ship to the UK. Take an enducated guess on the size(s) you'll probably need and you'll be geared in no time.
Me? I have the BMW mesh jacket and trousers. Up until a few years ago these were only available as special order items, BMW in its infinite wisdom deciding that the UK was not hot enough to warrant stocking the kit. This (helped no doubt by global warming) has changed. Was it cheap? Yes, but only perhaps because I bought it in November, when demand was at its lowest. Now in mid-spring the position might be different.
