Hi
Some of you may know that kate and I have been out in South East Asia for the last couple of months doing a 2400km cycle trip. It's all but over now and due to the heat and general knackeredness we decided to hire some motorbikes to tackle the 40 degree heat and big hills of Northern Thailand.
I can't recommend this part of the world enough for simple, cheap, fun adventuring. Here are some pages from our blog to give you an idea of what it's like. It doesn't matter if you're an experienced adventurer or barely ridden anywhere except to your local Asda, I defy you to come out here and not enjoy it!! There are plenty of 'proper' adv bikes to rent like CRF250l's, Versys, V Stroms and. CB500X's, all good nick, all cheap. What did we go for? Read on and find out....
Cheers

the step thru's were £1.50 per day for the 100cc and £2 for the 125cc last time I was in chang mai so they have doubled in price in 12 years. I did that trip on a crf 250 at £10 /day perhaps the best fun adventure I have ever had certainly the most fun for cost that I have ever had. Some of the lovely tarmac roads you were on were just been built when I was there.I would love to do it all again.Great place!

We picked up those Dreams pretty cheap, most other places were £4.20 a day!
There are loads more tarmac roads that head up into the hills (all dead ends) if you've got the time. Also loads of dirt stuff to explore either on your own or part of a organised tour. We're out of time and its also a tad warm this late in the season for all the clobber you'd have to wear. They hire all that as well....
