Bulgaria is probably Europe's best kept secrets. I have lived here now for 2 years having spent the previous 8 years living in Turkey. It is biker heaven here for everyone apart from the sports bike guys (too many pot holes) There are 4 ranges of mountains all with access on easy gravel type tracks. From my house near Elena (very beautiful area) I can ride off road (anything from open gravel tracks to full on death) for days without a gate, fence or angry word! I used to run off road tours in both Turkey and here but now I am retired. I will how every guide for food and fuel, and all are welcome to use us has a stop over (on the way east to Turkey) or as a base to explore this wonderful country. We have 2 spare rooms, and of course a garage for the steed. You can contact me via [email protected] or on here or face book where I have many photo's. A mate of mine does a lot of business there and is looking to move out and live there he loves it so much. I keep telling him to move so I can ride out and have a cheap holiday.

Hello and welcome. I went to Pamporovo skiing last month for a week and had a great time.

The resort was good and modern but from what else I saw to and fro the airport the country is big, empty but lacking money big time.

On a two hour trip to the airport I spotted one modern building...excluding the airport...with everything else looking straight out of the soviet block.

I'm not nocking the place in any way as my view was limited and I will go back but people expecting European standards might be disappointed.

Yes Mike you are absolutely right, it'a big country about half the size of the uk, with 7 million people! Most of which are old, the rest be used car sales men. But this of course is the attraction. I can ride and walk the dogs and see no one for days. I have guided tours here over 6 days and never saw another vehicle. I love it! Not been skiing yet though, spent a few days last year in Bansko ragging around on the 525, and yes it looks like any other European ski resort.

I have 2 friends who moved out there, 1 in Provadia the other just a short distance away and I have been there also, it's a look back in time country where people still use horses to plough the fields and water collected from streams in buckets, where the people grow most of their food and would willingly share it with you, they are poor but they seem happy, a lot of the younger generation have moved west to the lands of milk and honey but a lot of them are now returning, property out there is almost at give away prices, and of course Moto Camp Bulgaria is there, as used by Horizons unlimited, where I have stayed, very simple but friendly and relaxing, only down side is don't ride at night, you can't see the potholes and there is a lot of horse and carts with no lights.

Eeek. Yes I have heard about this site and driven past it many times, but to be honest I moved here to avoid people, this sounds a bit to .........civilised for me.
