What would make you give up biking?

Anything goes, and mine's a Guinness.

What would make you give up biking?

Post by johnnyboxer »

So would any of the list below make you give up biking, or have you been forced to turn your back on biking for anything on the list?

Money (lack of)

Ill Health

Injury

Family (wife and young kids pressure)

Change of Direction (new hobby)

Danger of Road Biking (self awareness)

Boredom (with biking)

I think the only reason I would give up bikes was if I wasn't fit to ride them anymore.Maybe I would change my mind if I had a near fatal accident,I know some people who have, but I doubt it.I've never had much money but I've always managed to have a bike on the road.Bikes are just part of who I am! I might not ride as often as I used to but if I'm not riding I'm working on them, reading about them, watching them, planning trips on them etc, etc!
My ex-wife said I loved my bike more than her....I guess she was right!

If I could fly unaided like superman I'd probably lose interest in biking...

Maybe if I got a great job somewhere I could snowboard every weekend. But I would probably hanker after it.
And now, Harry, let us step out into the night and pursue that flighty temptress, adventure.

I'd just get fed up with the hassle if they brought in too many stupid laws that stopped me riding what I want, where I want and (within reason) how I want to ride it.

I'll have been riding bikes for 40 years in March but if I was 16 again I wouldn't bother starting.

Getting bored of bikes or a new hobby could make me give up. I've had plenty of hobbies over the years that I was fully committed to at the time but ultimately I moved on. More recently I started counting how long was spent cleaning and repairing my enduro bikes so figured it was time to move on and don't miss it.
Having done a couple of tandem paraglide's I could really get into that.
