Hi all, well it's been a year since I got my first bike, and 6 months since I past my bike test - but with work and serveral house moves in the past year, I havent actually had the opportunity to go anywhere!
My head tells me I should knuckle down and earn some money for a 'big trip', which would mean not going anywhere this year. But my heart is telling me to get out on the road for a small trip and go from there... Or in other words I'm chomping at the bit to get on my bike!
So I am looking for suggestions as to where to go as I will be a bit limited by the time of year I can travel.
Here are the details:
When: Early April - maybe slightly later but need to be back by mid May
How Long: Max 30 Days
Bike: Suzuki Djebel 250 XC
Budget: £1000 (yes I know its low - but for me it will be all part of the fun!)
Travel Style: Nice & Easy, Camping all the way and cooking.
I know the time of year and time scale screams Morocco ( although the budget doesnt) but I would like to hear other suggestions.
Thanks in advance

Got to agree - Morocco, just take cheap Eurotunnel or Ferry and pootle down through France and Spain taking in the back roads and then once you get into Maroc it's still cheap as chips.
The weather will be reliable at that time of year (in fact it will be perfect, Atlas not too cold and Desert not stupidly hot.

You may be able to do the Aragon HISS in that time scale, 11th to 15th May, a leisurely ride down but it would be a rush back ? ?

It aint about covering huge distance so get the ferry over to France then check weather on crossing and go from there...the amount you have could be better spent on local attractions rather than fuel through riding a long way...
If culture is your thing then you should be able to do istanbul and back..cant think on anything nicer than a Brew over looking the Phosporus river with Miranets in background...ride down via France and ,Austria into slovenia and the Balkans..cheap and friendly folks..
Morroc can be had on a budget flight and well its awfully common these days..blackpool in the sun

In 2013 I paid 160 euro for open return Algeciras to Tangier Med. Onth's insurance was 950 dm, but you can get cheaper for a shorter time. Fuel is a bit cheaper in Morocco and you can eat cheaply if you're careful.
Why not stay in Spain? So much to explore there

1000 pound will get you 1300 euros maybe more if the ECB quantatative easing devalues the euro more.
so 100 for the ferry to morocco maybe 80 euros if you shop around.
leaves 1200 ish and 30 days so 40 euros a day plenty in morocco and enough if you
add the wild camp in Europe on the way. Rod York is going in April for a month he seems to be a dab hand at trips on the cheap.
but personally its a long way and rural France and Spain would be my choice
