I have a USB powerbank but the added option of being able to jumpstart my own bike if needed has me interested?
Any other ones you can recommend?

I am interested in this as well Chris. In theory I shouldn't need one but cold conditions has meant on 2 occasions I haven't been able to start the bike in the morning. I don't really want to carry anything more, but it would have been a great help on those occasions. Trying to bump start FI bikes isn't fun.
From the research I have done, it appears that the microstart does live up to its claims, however the most common observation I have seen that has stopped me buying one, is that it is not very good at holding its charge over time. So if you use it regularly, it works, but don't expect to charge it, leave it and then expect it to work. Sadly this sort of defeats the purpose for me, as I want it as a back up.

I thought about one a while back for my XR 650L.

I bought one 2 years ago and it holds a charge ok, it'll run a bike in a workshop when you've got the battery removed and it charges toys. What's not to like about it?
I take mine on bike trips as an emergency back up and the rest of the time it sits in my van so I can use it to either jump start any vehicle I choose or throw some life into my laptop if I need to use it with no mains supply and the battery is flat.

I bought one from Zen last year as back up for my 990 ktm, seems to be fine for that, tho I doubt it will do loads of starts and run something without being charged.

seen these about a year ago and will be getting one some time soon
just as a stand by and charging port

ive just started using lithium batterys for the first time mike
i bought a spare one to take with me on me travels ..i would think they would be the same small size for the ktm ..which makes them really easy to cart around ..it weighs about the same as a orange :woohoo:
the blurb says they hold charge no less than 90 percent for one year ..theres no liquid in em so they can be stored anyway up so you can just stuff it inyour pack anyway you like
..one of rhe plus points of doing it this way is that you have a booster pack and a replacment batttery in one
..the downside is you need a lithium charger

As long as you treat them as an emergency jump starter and use it then charge it they're fine. They're small enough to slide into a pannier or top box alongside other luggage and give you the peace of mind that you know you can jump your bike (or a friends) with no worries.
They take up less space than a set of coiled up jump leads and missing a ferry through being unable to start your bike then having to pay again will cost more than the unit cost in the first place. Another way to look at it is how hard is it to bump start a big bike off road when you've drowned it and flattened the battery trying to clear the water out?
