Help!
During my Triumph Legend TT Bobber build we fitted a lovely small speedo.
It's only about 1.9" in diameter.
However, it runs backwards, and the miles went from zero to 99,999.9 etc.
Has anybody have any ideas?
And no, I can't ride it in reverse!
Can speedos be dismantled and the direction reversed inside, or do Triumph speedo cables spin the other way (oh er misses!).
Help appreciated, witty comments welcome.......
Speedo working backward ???

It may be a daft idea - but I am the first maybe to say - turn your wheel tutherway around and swap fork legs so yer disc is on other side
I may need to get me coat

As the single brake caliber still sits over the single brake disc, I think I got it about right. B)sprintster wrote:Maybe you've put the wheel on the wrong way round!
Next idea............
Re: Speedo working backward ???
The original may of had a bevel gear or at least an extra gear. Probably need to get a cable made up using your old one? so yes it spins backwards.
The secret of a long life is knowing when its time to go.

Good idea, but surely the brake caliper would be outside in? :S

Thanks for that, although I'm struggling to keep up.herman wrote:The original may of had a bevel gear or at least an extra gear. Probably need to get a cable made up using your old one? so yes it spins backwards.
I'm using a genuine Triumph speedo cable for the correct bike.
How do I change its direction?
Is the speedo just not compatible?
Sorry if I'm being thick.
Re: Speedo working backward ???
Weird!
When you spin the wheel does the cable spin clockwise? It should or the original speedo had another set of gears to reverse the direction internally.
Does the new speedo work anticlockwise?
Also most speedo's have a mechanism to stop reverse winding of the mileage for obvious reasons.

I think that I could have bought one for the money that I've spent on the build!zimtim wrote:Or maybe you've built a time machine
