Well I guess it's time to own up!
Re: Well I guess it's time to own up!
Big Zed, if you're on a British passport it's a visa for Mauritania you'll need not one for Senegal.
If you have no joy in Madrid head to the Embassy in Rabat, Morocco, it's more hassle in some ways but will give you an introduction to the bureaucracy to be found as you get further south! Plus Rabat is a great place to spend a couple of days.
If you haven't already been warned give the border between Mauritania and Senegal at Rosso a miss!! Head toward the coast to Diama instead. It's still corrupt but without the light fingered hangers on!
I've done the run down the west coast a few times and it's great fun once you learn to chill and let thing's take their own course.
Above all, have fun (thumbs)

Re: Well I guess it's time to own up!
Well I am still here!
The plan..... Ah yes the plan. Still there in the back of my mind. I try not to let it interfere with things too much, hahaha.
Ok I have made it to Dakhla, not far from The Mauritanian border. Just sort of chilling out and enjoying the ride. I haven,t met many other folks on the road. Really just Stani and Carina, a Belgium couple. They have sold up and live in a truck Stani built. Very, very nice! I will put their blog address up when I remember to bring my notebook with me.
So I went to Ouarzazate for a few days, I have been before and like it around there. The off roading in the moutains is my sort of territory and the big KTM was built for it. I then followed the desert highway messing about on route and have ended up here. Tomorrow I move on to the border and, well we will see how that goes.
I have a visa for both Mauritania and Senegal so hopefully I will not be giving those in power reasons to be difficult.......

Hello everyone, I am still here.
This plan........ well I think we can just dispense with that now  , maybe pick it up again about Christmas!
I have made it to Dakar and now I am just chilling out for a bit. I have learnt a fair few things so far;
The internet, no matter where I am drives me nuts! Putting pictures to things???????
The road is home, I feel so good just riding and not worrying.
I have no idea what I am doing, but don't care really.
Maybe August wasn't the best time to cross the Sahara!!!!!
Take care everyone.

Polly send her love and asks to give Ouarzazate a big hug - we were thee in 1991 or '92 in Renault 4. If you're coming back that way make a little detour to Sidi-Ifni, great place. - Have a great trip mate (thumbs)
