Re: Outer Hebrides
As Old Git Ray writes, the weather isn't always warm sun. However... if you watch the weather on BBC News each night, you'll see that Stornaway in Lewis is one of the towns captioned on the maps, and you'll notice that much of the time the Outer Hebrides has much better weather than the rest of Scotland.PaulinBont wrote:I can sense a ABR Hebrides Rally in the making

Very true Tim. When I was there they were in the middle of a drought and for the first time on most peoples memory they were struggling with fresh water and the grass was yellowing in many places.Tim Cullis wrote:As Old Git Ray writes, the weather isn't always warm sun. Re: Outer Hebrides
If anyone is going to Horizons Unlimited (19-22 June), I'm doing a session on the Orkneys and Outer Hebrides. Mainly about logistics (how to get there, where to stay) and places to see. After the talk I'm planning to post all my waypoints and routes.
It's quite surprising just how many Scots haven't visited these islands. There's a boat several times a week from Aberdeen to Orkney and the harbour is just a short bus ride away from my in-laws' house, but they never visited.

There is a shorter crossing to the Orkneys from Scrabster & the ferry carries on to Lerwick.Tim Cullis wrote:If anyone is going to Horizons Unlimited (19-22 June), I'm doing a session on the Orkneys and Outer Hebrides. I have also taken the Aberdeen ferry to Shetland & thought it was fantastic, but a hopscotch from Oban to Castlebay or Lochboisdale & making your way up to Tarbert - Uig or Stornaway - Ullapool takes a bit of beating for value & variety.

The bustling port of Lochboisdale!
