Switzerland passes 1st week in June

Post by Redsoul »

I went over the fluela, stelvio and gavia in that order in one day on way to Croatia at the beginning of June last year and the weather was horrendous.it was snowing at the top of fluela, very little visibility and bloody cold...the stelvio was no better.
Brilliant days riding though make sure you take lots of warm clothing.

All depends on how late the last snow is this year. I was in Austria in the 1st week of July last year and a lot of the passes only opened the week before.

1980 mid-July. Grimsel and Furka passes both had snow. Higher we went, more snow we got! Great fun 2 up on a Yam 850 triple with Pantera fairing, panniers etc. Did my constipation the world of good ! Bits of road "Under repair" put the icing on the cake and speeded up the rate of Jockey pant replacement. FUN though ! Seriously (?) it is a bit of a gamble at any time. Just give it a go and enjoy the experience. This is the Adventure bike Forum after all ! Les
