Standard TKC80 rear is a bit slippery for riding I`m doing, which is mostly green lanes around berks, wilts and hampshire consisting of muddy, leafy, rutted, chalky and wet stuff. The Mitas E09 I found very good on the F800 but its not available in the heavy duty version for the KTM rear size (Heard it rips through them a bit as well). Thinking of either the Dunlop D908RR or Michelin deserts. Will be using heavy duty tubes. Road riding capabilities are minor consideration as its only used to get between lanes, longer distance i`ll put the TKC`s back on, any 690 owners got any experience of these or others?
Of the well documented mods i`m trying to keep it to the minimum, I have the tank bolts and CA cycle works fuel pump ready to go as well as the radiator brackets and i`m going to cut down the number plate holder a bit, am i missing anything?
Still loving the bike.

Re: KTM 690R tyres
A mate of mine had the Dunlop D908rr rear and TKC80 on the front. He's done a trip to France, 2 small events and road riding with them and swears by that combination.
I had a set of Michelin desert race on the 640 adv when I had it and it was good but great off road and shit on road and it got eaten off the back of it.

Re: KTM 690R tyres
Thanks Eric,
TKC does work well on the front for me, sounds like the D908 should be the first try.

The E09 is available in a 130/80-18.
I bought one recently but haven't fitted it yet.
Nick.

Re: KTM 690R tyres
I'd suggest not on the dunlops and the deserts. neither really suitable for the UK, the compounds are incredibly hard so therefore incredibly slippery, good for the desert but not much else. You'd be more suited to a set of maxxis IT or some pirelli scorpion XC mid hard, or even mich comp 3's, but either way, the 690 will eat tyres if you're hard on the throttle

Re: KTM 690R tyres
Thanks for the help
Think ill try the Maxxis as there also nearly half the price of 908 and seem more suitable.

Just being a bit stupid here, but can't find maxxis maxcross IT M7305 in anywhere near the size, have found maxcross EN M7314 are these same tyres you guys have. That was from the oponeo site and others

I run 4mm extra heavy duty tubes in mine as well. Don't run the Maxxis above 22psi as you'll rip out the centre knobblies
