mini spot lights ?

Post by tromso »

Hi all Im looking to buy a pair of mini spots for my 650 single Honda (As the
headlight on this bike is as much use as a pair of copulating glowworms ) any advice on what type to buy? Should i go for Bulb or LED
And any probs I might encounter fitting them would be much appreciated

You won't get the Throw & Spread as good as a bigish headlamp from a couple of mini spots.
So it might be worth sorting out what the problem is with the headlamp.
If you use spots with bulbs they will gobble a lot of current which could be used to beef up the headlamp.
Most guys fit spots for close range illumination.
Lightness is everything.

LED's will draw less current. Rigid industries spots are expensive but very effective in spot pattern. The have enough flood to see the road edges but don't bleed light up and cause glare with the flood/diffused beams.

I used them instead of my headlight on my Vara. Aimed at the same point as my dipped beam the light up the road beautifully. Over 5000 lumens with only 10watts of current draw. My headlight stayed to pass MOT's but in reality it was redundant ;)

Have a look on ebay for led spots.
Mine are the 600 lumen ones but you can get now 2400 lumen ones.
Cheap too and so far I have not managed to break it

+1 for Rigid Industries spots. Gabriel at Zen Overland fitted me a pair of largish ones but he did have some nice smaller ones in stock as well. Worth giving him a call, top bloke!

+1 As the original poster of the Dually review. Excellent quality, excellent lights, very very bright and a piece of cake to fit. Plus excellent service from Zenoverland.

Got to be done dude.
