You can set the world alight with the Deauville, but it will have gone out by the time you get there, the engine has its heritage from the Bros and NT models, and the vibration was engineered in to give it a big bike feel.
But all in all, there a very reliable bike, just chech the final drive splines as they often get over looked.
If your planning on touring, see if you can get hold of the panier extenders, there just a wider lid but make a lot of difference.
The other good thing about the Deauville, is every time you stop, someone will come and relate a story about their Dueaville, you don't get that on a GSXR. Once did a 17 hour trip on mine.
But for my money, I would be looking for a CBR1100xx Blackbird for touring, you don't get the mpg but you do get the Wow factor.

Re: BMW R80RT OR HONDA DEAUVILLE
Thanks for the replies lads
Forgot to mention, my budget is £1500, £1800 tops
Sorry boatman, would love it but to many shekkles
Nobody keen on the Bm then. Must just be the current owners that think they are better than winter tyres in the winter.
Thats another point to raise!

Pains me to say this but 1985 is a bit old unless you have time for nut and bolt strip down. If I could buy a new airhead better than the abject crap produced by BM since.....You lot do seem to have been conned by the manufacturers over complicating and under engineering their bikes. Never did like Honda

Plus One Blackbird - i bought a cat c? write off years ago £2k -its still going strong -awesome tourer-awesome power and fun. There are still some really good bargain blackbirds with high mileage around-possibly above budget tho-also how about a CBR 600F? theres some good ones around for £1500-£1800?

Bought a CBR600F in 2005 new, The high frequency vibration made my fingers tingly, plus not an ideal tourer for me. I need something more upright.

Dont bother with the dullville, its one of the most boring bikes on the planet along with the NTV650.
For the same money you could get a decent Honda Blackbird, absolutely fantastic bikes.

If you fancy a nice run, you could have mine for what you've got to spend, and have plenty of change. I'm in the north east of Scotland, hence the nice run (thumbs)redrooster wrote: . . .Forgot to mention, my budget is £1500, £1800 tops . . .
