the dear old boy that lives next door to me is 97 years old, hes amazing for his age. i got home from work earlier to find an envelope throught he door, when i opened it it said, to pete and debi have a nice meal and bottle of wine on me, there was £100 in it. so i popped round to say thanks and he shouldnt have, he said its my pleasure, uve been good to me.
we only plate up a roast for him when we do one, bless his little cotton socks
i only need one wheel .......... the rear

It's great to have good nieghbours and help eachother out , fairplay to you both ..
When i lived on my own the bird next door done my ironing and i'd do her gardening in return , it worked well :)

At least he knows what stuff costs these day my dear departed mum wudda put a tenner in for meals & drinks for 2 :laugh:

A good "feel good" story for a rainy Saturday morning. He's 97 you say, blimey he's had a good innings. You might have to have a few more roast dinners from now on, lol... :)

And here's a thought for Remembrance Sunday,

The guys of that generation are the ones who went through WW2.

There are also the slightly younger ones who did Korea...a now largely forgotten conflict.

A lot of those guys will be out at your local war memorial at 11am on Sunday.

If you are out riding and find yourself in a village at that time, take your helmet off and join them for the 2 minutes silence.

And if you are not out riding...find out which pub they all go to afterwards and go and buy a few old boys a drink and listen to their stories. They won't be with us much longer and all that will be left will be books and film.

Just having an audience means a lot to people of that age...they mostly get ignored by the rest of the population.

his gardens the best in the road, hes always out there pottering about, he puts my bins out every week. hes as fit as a fiddle. he has told me stories about dunkirk and the war.
