good timing Jon, first could you please go to facebook ABR forum Bulgaria Meet , just so that we can try to keep an eye on possible numbers, just put yourself down as a maybe.

Today i have been out on the bike looking for trails that the bigger bikes could handle. Your DRZ would be great little tool around here, but it is a long trek out to Bulgaria. your shout on that.
The track i rode today should be good for most bikes, just a few ruts and holes, but most of it is easy riding.
They will be road tours aswell as off road, easy tracks and not so easy. there is lots to see and do on the road and some brilliant trails to follow over the hills. so to sum up i can't help you.. !!

I have posted a few pics on the FB site (link above), tried and failed here twice , guess the file size is to large.

Cheers Mark

This sounds fantastic!
I like the idea of taking several days to get there. Love the idea of visiting the church of bones & staying in B&B's en-route will be easier to pack up every day.
But the journey needs some thought as obtaining 2+ weeks annual leave will be tricky.

I may consider letting the train take the strain from Villach, Austria. Unfortunately, it's too early to get a price for the train departing in August 2014. Anyone used this?

Another solution is to find a man with a van & I fly home. Anyone have any contacts?

Could be a great solution if, like me, you need to get back to work. Any other interest?

I have been out over the past week looking at various places to visit within easy reach of the Motocamp. Lots to see and do and will be difficult to squeeze it all in but I am looking forward to it.

If you need a room make sure you contact the Motocamp directly ASAP or you may be disappointed - plenty of room for camping but only a limited number of rooms. If anyone has a problem getting a room for the meeting let me or Mark (Bushman) know as we may be able to help find rooms elsewhere in the village.

Hi Norrie

I am seeing Polly & Ivo who run the Motocamp tomorrow morning (Friday) & will ask if they received your e-mail - when did you send it ?

If the Motocamp is full there is an apartment for use in the village - it is owned by Debbie & Andy, an English couple who live in the village. There is a living room and bedroom so 4 could possibly share (2 in bedroom and 2 on pull out sofa in lounge) - they charge around 50 leva a night for this place (not per person).

If anyone else has had trouble contacting the Motocamp let us know

VERY interested in this. I even have permission from the Mrs. She dosent want to come after experiencing almost 4000 miles on the bike earlier this year! So i'll be alone, and camping. I'll be on a Triumph Tiger 800xc, running on road tyres, so wont be doing any 'extreme' trails!

Do we need to book if we are camping??

Also, would love to join up with a group of riders that are going. Very interested in the church of bones and as many sights as poss enroute!

I can only take 2 weeks off work, so will prob set off Thurs 21st Aug...ish.

:)

Hi Martin
I sent the E mail at the time I registered my interest in this trip probably about 4-6 weeks ago.
I'll keep an eye for trip updates as I hope to join up with a group making the trip if possible

Thanks again

Sykesy, no need to book camping but register your interest on the ABR Meets & Runs area so that we know numbers.

I will be there in 2014...

There is a photo of the motocamp with some biker tents!

Thought while i have a few quite minutes before the winter hits i would throw a rough idea for any that wish to travel in a group

So here is a route map of what i think would be an easy route down to Bulgaria without being to boring , keeping it fairly cheap. Get across the west quick . A stop somewhere in Holland /Belgium to meet up the other side of the channel then a blast for the Czech Republic for Prague or Kutna Hora (church of Bones )then a nice bimble through the back lanes of Slovakia and Hungary. Romania will bring some challenges with a zig zag route down the Trans Alpina and then back up for the Transfagarasan and from there head for Bulgaria and the motto camp.

This is not a must do or a route in stone , if you wish to Travel in a group then give some input in what you want and give some ideas or make your own way there , i will not be upset either way. If it's worked out, above, under "Route map" there should be a Hyperlink showing the map, if not i shall post it on the FB page aswell
