Anything goes, and mine's a Guinness.

Others that may be close equal or better:

Hailwood on the Ducti in 1978 in the IoM and at Mallory Park

Roberts v Sheene in 77 at Silverstone (I think)...anyway the "oh look, he's waving" GP.
It was 1979 I was there and as a Sheene fan it made the hairs stand up on the back of my neck :P

So it was... somewhere I've got a DVD of a film Castrol made on the day.

Roberts' Yam blew a clutch seal on the line, and nearly didn't start.

Sheene had a row with the scrutineers and nearly wasn't allowed to start.

Yes Roberts gloves were covered with oil  he only just made the start.
Seem to remember getting home after the race and watching the race on TV, no video then

we [group of mates] looked into a great deal we found for the catalunya motoGP in june, wednesday ferry portsmouth-santander, shared cabin, good ride to barcelona but you had time to stop overnight in lovely zaragoza if you wanted to, party like a spanish race fan all weekend and back on tuesdays boat to plymouth i think.
£250 each bike+rider, bearing in mind just the ferry trip wouldve been £200+, a weekend at the motoGP (at a better track, and sun virtually guaranteed) with camping (but no sleeping!) was basically £50. rip off britain strikes again!

I would agree going by bike is better. However, unfortunately sometimes circumstances dictate that the car has to be used.

This year my Dad had to have spinal surgery and is off the bike for a bit - so our trips to tracks have been in the car. Also, to get him into it and help the future of the sport, I took my mates little lad whom I have o bike gear for.

To charge me more to go is unfair when it's out of my control.
