I'm putting this up for sale here before I put it on ebay to see if there's any interest from the ABR community. I am asking £2500 and I am located in Portland, Dorset. Please bear with me if you reply as I am working 14 hour night shifts until next Wednesday so I may not manage to log in every day.
For sale here is my beloved Africa Twin which I have enjoyed since June 2008. It was first registered on 05/11/2002 and I am the third owner. The reason I am selling it is because I have decided it’s time for a change and I am looking for an ST1100 Pan European (another Honda classic!). My Twin had just 20,000 miles when I got it and now has 47,000. I have mostly used it for weekend rides and touring and have been to France and Spain several times as well as Portugal and the North Cape of Norway. It has always been garaged when not in use. The only thing that has ever gone wrong with it is when the battery failed and had to be replaced.
It has many extras over standard. These include:
• Remus Revolution aluminium exhaust with removable baffle
• Givi engine bars
• Aluminium lockable box panniers
• Powder coated black wheel rims and stainless spokes
• K&N air filter
• Scottoiler
• Centre stand
• Facet fuel pump
• Tall touring screen
• Goodridge brake hoses front and rear
• Oxford heated grips
Anyone who know Africa Twins knows that there are a couple of weak points which need to be overcome. These are:
1. The original wheel rims are not very durable and tend to rot. To combat this I have recently replaced both rims for powder coated black rims with stainless spokes.
2. The original fuel pump is guaranteed to fail at some point so I replaced it with the 40105 pump by Facet as soon as I bought the bike so that I would never be caught out. This is a commonly used replacement and I have never heard of one failing.
3. The Africa Twin is notorious for its chokes sticking in the ‘on’ position. This is a pain as it doubles the petrol consumption and makes it very lumpy and unable to idle. To get over this I have disconnected the cables and blanked off the chokes. This is another common fix to the problem. It has never refused to start in the years since I have done this. I just sit on it, fire it up, hold the throttle for a few seconds and then ride away. No problem and no sticking chokes.
There are a few light scratches on the side panels and a small repaired crack in one of the faring panels but there are no dents anywhere and I would say it is in very good condition overall considering it is over 10 years old. There are a few small areas of corrosion dotted about the frame but nothing too noticeable. The engine is great has only ever needed oil, filter and plugs (and petrol) to keep it going strong. Last oil filter and plugs was at 46,000 miles. The tyres are Metzeler Tourance and have done 3500 miles and have loads left. It has 6 months MOT and 11 months tax. I am including a magnetic tankbag as well as I will not need it any more. I have the V5C in my name and address. I have the original handbook and tools and most of the old MOT certificates. It really needs nothing and is ready to commute or tour straight away. There are stickers of my travels on the panniers which you can leave on or remove and start your own story.......
If you have any questions or would like to view the bike please get in touch.

I can't seem to add pictures to my message so if you are interested let me know and I'll email them. I haven't been here for a while so if anyone can tell me what I'm doing wrong I'd be grateful.

I haven't. Do you still have to be a paid up member to post there? My membership lapsed some time ago I'm afraid.Paul-S wrote:Have you posted this over on XRV?
