whitch one and why?
Re: whitch one and why?
The Versys, since I don't adventure off road and it tours beautifully.

Re: whitch one and why?
I'm with the 'smaller/lighter' brigade. I don't need and hardly ever use the performance that my 115BHP 990 has - and even then it's been relegated by the 150BHP 1190!
The 990 has the benefit of being narrow and reasonably light, compared to the 1200s though.
Having said all of that, I really do like the look of the Tiger Sport
Jon
PS We need one bike with the looks of the Tiger Sport, the off-road ability of the KTM, the handling of the Ducati and the simplicity of the Guzzi. Then we need to half it's weight

Re: whitch one and why?
I've got to say the Ducati because I've got a 2012 one and the 2013 is supposed to be even better.
Reasons? Really just the engine and the handling but before I bought it I looked at the options and because I've got no intention of doing anything harder than the Stella off road ability wasn't an issue. The least surprising fact is that even though Ducati claim 150bhp there's no way it's even near that and because of the way the engine develops its power there isn't a sudden kick in the backside and of it goes feeling even if you crack it hard open in sports mode.

Re: whitch one and why?
I reckon that bike would be a more 'road-going' version of the KTM 690 enduro? If only they would produce an 'adventure/trail' version of it, I'm sure they'd have a sure fire sales success overnight. Although some people do big road miles on the current 690 Enduro model it's probably hasn't got enough comforts for true high mileages and the smaller engine models are arguably better for pure off-roading (I'm biased on that one because I've got a 450 EXC-R). Of course,it's still a big single which may not be to everyone's tast so maybe if they also did it in a twin pot engine version...?jonny955 wrote: Jon

Suzuki GSX-S1000F...the KTM 450 EXC-R has gone
Re: whitch one and why?
when they are put like that side to side, they are surprisingly very familiar
if money is no issue, I would go with something european.

The Yam for me... Just because I like it
Would have the big one and the small one if I had the dosh and time to use them.
I do like the triumph explorer and Ducati though and I'd have to take them for a run back to back if I was spending that sort of cash. But forced to buy now... The yam.

Yes....frankly.moto al wrote:hi chaps my 2pence worth ,dont you think bikes are going the same way as cars ,they all look the same!
The angular "beaker" look is now the norm for all manufacturers.
It's the same as another post I made that it's going the same way in terms of ECU dependency too....my car shut itself off completely not that long ago because one of the back lights was out!
But the point is, it'll soon be impossible to mend something by the side of the road without a laptop to plug in.
Having said that....I still fooking love the Triumph 1200 Explorer! :cheer:
