Re: Which Cam ?
+1 for the gopro. Spent years messing about with others trying to save a few quid when I should have just bought one. Ah well at least in that time they've moved to the hero3.
I bought the silver for about 200 because I didn't want to pay for the remote included in the black edition. I use my phone for that. Also, I decided I would rarely shoot the extreme high frame rate.
Mounting options for the gopro are endless.
As for mounting. What do you ride? I've mounted mine on a fz1 and it is fine but mounted on my xt the vibes are to much so it goes on my helmet. Also, trails... Stick it on you or your helmet. The chesty mount is also good for that.
Drift is catching up but it is gopro all the way for me. Absolute quality! Also use it as a dive camera if you're doing any of that while you're down there.

Re: Which Cam ?
I use a Mini DVR 3 with the bullet camera The camera is waterproof and the DVR part is separate with a good screen which just attaches to the bike with some strong velcro so can be removed and put in you pocket when not in use DVR part not waterproof but has a small zip plastic bag to cover it if its raining.
Best bit is it comes with a car charger and starts with the bike and stop when bike is turned off so no messing about with set up also takes mini SD cards up to 32gb so can record plenty of footage in 10 min segments so easy to edit.
Purchased from RF Concepts about 2 years ago and had no problems with it

Re: Which Cam ?
I use Veho cam's, Atom inside the visor for commuting, slightly bigger one on the chin vent for some ride-outs, and a larger full HD in a waterproof case on the bike/bars too.
