Hi Foxy

Sounds great, I'm sure a few riders will join you and give you a great send off. Just for the record, where are you 2 going? Doing a full RTW?

Cheers Will

After Turkey we go into the former Soviet countries starting in Georgia we head north going into Russia for the first time lapping the following the Caspian coast we explore the wilderness of the Kazakh Steppe heading for Uzbekistan and the Pamirs Highway (if the problems in the Khorog highlands finish). Then we head north to Almaty going back in to Russia before getting deliberately lost (well kind of) in Mongolia. When we head up back into Russia where we will attempt the tough BAM road before getting to Vladivostok. We have had some great news that has potentially thrown a spanner in the works for this part of the trip. Liz's brother is getting married in New York so as some stage in the trek across Russia we will be leaving bikes behind for a few days to enjoy a fantastic family celebration.

After crossing Russia we'll take our bikes to the Americas, where with the help of work and travel visas in Canada, we will aim to raise some funds over the winter before exploring the Americas ending up in Argentina and from there who knows, Maybe australia maybe africa.
Hope this answers your question.

Looks like Willandkate has twisted my arm to volunteer for a Manchester / Yorkshire ride on 25th May... I'm thinking of a road trip rather than off road, and thinking of getting out of Manchester asap - up to Skipton, Settle, Ingleton, I fancy making it as far as Tan Hill Inn (it defeated me last year on a coast to coast cycle ride as my back tyre fell apart), then back to Manc via Kirby Lonsdale.

That is unless anyone else wants to volunteer for a better route or an off road version ... If not I'll start a thread in a week or so.

So, another interesting day in the world of "I'm trying to organise a charity motorbike ride in the UK"

I need to announce a change of plan on our charity. To maximise our 'bang for our buck' I've decided to change our charity from Cancer Research UK to Prostate Cancer UK. There are so many rules and regulations surrounding doing a charity ride that I had no idea of. After speaking to supporters and experienced people who've done this before, I think I'm now on track...

So, I hope that doesn't make anyone want to change their minds on helping out? I know it doesn't look too professional changing the charity, but hey, I never said I knew what I was doing!

All I do know is that ANY cancer is BAD and if we can all pull together to throw a few quid at a charity to help the fight against cancer then that's a good thing.

Thanks to all, oh any anyone want to put a coin or 2 in here?

Cheers

So if I have got the jist of this,
Will and Kate will collect from our Campsite in Cumbria heading north around Scotland, then drop it off on their way back.
Then I will deliver the baton to Dave DRZ somewhere around Manchester.
DaveDRZ will take it back north through the Yorkshire dales area, possibly ending up at Devils bridge, Kirkby Lonsdale, where I will collect from DaveDRZ for its final trip to the HUBB.
Is that right?

Not far off, but how does this grab ya.....

To save Paul a trip Kate and I can drop it with Dave on the way back from Scotland if you like?

Then hopefully Dave won't give it to Paul but actually give it to someone else to do a day out on Sunday 26th. Still need VOLUNTEERS for this.... Sloth may be able to help but can't commit at this stage which is fair enough.....

The Sunday ride would start in/around Manchester for delivery/collection from Dave and then head off somewhere fun for the day - Kendal???. If this ride happens, then whoever has the baton at the end of that day will need to coordinate with Paul, so he can collect it on Friday 31st May his way to the HUBB.

Phew, sure this will all get a bit clearer,,,,,,

Paul, I'm not sure where I pick up the baton from or where I drop it off... I think someone else is doing a South Manchester / Derbyshire ride on the Sunday with it.

If it helps, I could pick it up from you in K Lonsdale and drop it off with the next person, rather than you bring it to Manc and me then ride it back up North.

Or, do I need a different plan? Rather than such a long ride across the Dales, I could devise an inner city route?

Bugger, it's all gone to pot now...

I'm happy to pick up and drop off wherever. And happy to devise an inner city route or rural route to suit.
