Organ Donation, Sign up takes literally two mins.

Post by Shunt »

How many of us are registered as a donor?

Has any checked its up to date?

http://www.organdonation.nhs.uk/

Just watched a thing on beeb one about which reminded me to update my address an stuff with them.

I`ve always said they can have anything they can make use of once I`m done with it. What use is it to me  :cheer:

Cheers All

ive been on the register for a couple of years but last week some mates and i went to our usual cafe and there was a couple of paramedics having a coffee. i overheard one of them say 'here comes the mobile organ bank' to her mate and i was so cross i nearly tore up my donor card in front of her and say 'not any more you daft bitch'

but how childish would that be?

Hmmm, twats everywhere eh Dave. I think I might well have had 'words'. Didn't do the effort any good did she. Ho humm. But here's a tale you might like.

I've had some amazing news. I found out yesterday that a friend has survived a special operation. Special? He researched the situation for people in dire need of a kidney transplant. Realised how awful life is for those who are on the if-but-and-maybe-never waiting list. "I've got 2 kidneys, don't need them both, someone can have one of mine."

How absolutely amazing is that. In these times when there's too much concentration on the things that are going wrong in the world, how fantastic it is to realise that the world has people like my friend in it. I'm proud to know him.

thats incredible sam.
i'd do it for my family but i admit i dont think i could just offer it 'out there' if you know what i mean. im on the anthony nolan bone marrow register but i draw the line at a kidney, my current lifestyle demands the use of two!
im not sure but i believe you can safely donate a big chunk of liver too cant you? but again, thats a big ask. take what you want when im not using it any more ;)
