Hi folks,
I've just bought an XT660Z Tenere, its a 2010 model and done about 12,000 miles.
I really like it except for the seat! It's not the shape that's the problem, it's that it just so soft. When I sit on it I can feel the base of the seat digging in, and I feel every bump in the road through my *rse. (I'm not that heavy, about 14st). The seat cover is starting to crease where it's always being compressed.
I thought maybe the foam had been cut down, but took the cover off, and it looks totally original. I've added a couple of layers of foam from an old Karrimat between the base and the seat foam, but it's still not great.
I know comfort is subjective, and I know about Airhawks etc, but could I ask my fellow Tenere owners out there, is the seat normally that soft or have I got a duff seat? Has anyone tried any aftermarket seats?
Cheers,
Steve.
Tenere Seat
Re: Tenere Seat
I find it the weirdest seat on any bike i owned. One min its super comfy and a great position the next it starts to cause discomfort and then un explainably go back to being comfy. I do rekon it needs flattening out and a touch extra foam getting placed in. I dont want too much in there mind because its already a high bike and Im near 6 ft

Re: Tenere Seat
Hi , ive had my tenere seat modded with gel incerts and foam for touring as i hated the standard seat i also have a touratech seat as well ( will post pics when i get in from work ) for me they have changed the bike into something i love to ride allday long now
Re: Tenere Seat
Hi same prob here, easy fix that suited me was cheap thick sheep skin pad so didn't have to cut the seat about.
Chaos is the only camouflage that incompetence needs to operate at full capacity.
I dunno where that road goes, might as well go take a look anyway there's no where else i need to be right now.

Re: Tenere Seat
i must be the only person in the world who doesnt mind the tenere seat.
I would like it to be a bit flatter so you can move around on the seat more, but i dont find it too hard or too soft.
for long journeys i use an Airhawk....(which are brilliant!)

Thanks for your replies folks, so I'm not the only one finding the seat too soft.
Desertraider, which do you prefer, your modified seat, or the TT seat?
Tetley, have you got a Kahedo seat? What do you think of it?

Re: Tenere Seat
I have used the Kahedo seat for 4 years. I would say its a good all day seat.Kerswellcrank wrote:Thanks for your replies folks, so I'm not the only one finding the seat too soft.
