My sister broke hers in Jan '11 & then again when the plaster was removed! It's taken 18 months to recover enough for her to go jogging again.
Hopefully, you won't be so unlucky but learning from her experience, don't exert the tendon until ready then make sure you get lots of physio. Good Luck getting well soon :)

Not only ride home.....but finish the trail that was about 7 miles long to the exit point, and this included a tricky decent in parts...and keep up with the rest of us able bodies. And then ride 20 miles of tarmac back to the campsite. Then walk the 1 mile to the pub, and 1 mile back before sleeping on it it a tent. Then packing up the next day solo (we all had buggered off by the time Ian started!) and then riding to the hospital. Respect! :woohoo:

Sort yourself out Ian, Peaks rally is in a few weeks. We expect you there!

Called in at A&E on way home and it seems I'd completely severed my Achilles Tendon. So, after a few nights in hospital and surgery, I'm now home and looking forward to 12 weeks in plaster and 6 months before I can 'do anything active' again. :(
Suppose that gives me time to clean the bike.
Gutted for you mate, what a bummer nurse Nicky to the rescue :cheer: I`ll have a drive across next week and bring you some books and if you need any of your bikes running I`ll help soon  as I`m nearly ready to ride again :cheer: :cheer: but no off road allowed :( :(

You will be able to get to grips with this internet thing while your off though :P

cheers Marc

Elle - Bizarrely it didn't hurt that much, just couldn't put any weight on front of foot. Heel on footrest and for rear brake on the final decent. Walking was worse than riding.
It stings a bit now it's been sewn back together though. I'll take your advice re the careful recovery - like you say, there is a 5-10% chance of 're-rupture' after a fix, so have to follow the med advice.
Marc - great to see you next week if you're about.
I think I'm unlikely for Peaks. Couldn't take the gloom of sitting about while you lot go off for a hoon round the Lanes.

Marc, Thanks for dropping by, cheered me up. Sorry to hear that you're also going to be off bikes for a while. Hope you get a quick resolution to the Carpel Tunnel surgery. Say hi to the Sophsta.
