I AM VERY HAPPY WITH THIS AS IT MEANS MY TWIN IS WORTH MORE THAN IT COST ME NEW IN 2002.
I ALSO THINK THAT AS THESE WERE AFFORDABLE AND VERY WELL MADE THEY HAVE BEEN A MAINSTAY FOR THE BIKER/TRAVELLER FOR A LONG TIME AND AS WITH ALL GOOD BIKES A COMMUNITY HAS BUILT UP AROUND THEM WHICH I HAVE SEEN RECENTLY IN NORFOLK AND IN FRANCE,GERMANY,ITALY,,HUNGARY & POLAND WHERE I HAVE TIPPED UP ON THE TWIN AND WITHIN MINUETS HAVE A BEER IN MY HAND AND AS I SPEAK FLUID BIKEERLEES IT'S A GREAT WAY TO GET TO MEET GOOD PEOPLE FROM ALL OVER THE PLATZ.

I am not knocking them just seams a lot of hard earned £££.

i have had 4 of them they are a class act and their looks will stand the test of time but they are not rare so i think the prices will settle back down ....i also had a few transalps and they were better to ride but didn't had the solid presence of the twin

I have only just got one at the price I wanted to pay. It took me just over a year to find one at the right price and in the model and colour I wanted.

Even though it was "cheaper" than many available to buy, I have still had to buy new chain and sprockets, fuel, oil and air filters and new oil.

I still need to buy new tyres for it. Then I will start replacing stuff as a preventative measure. I want to put new clutch and throttle cables on. Refurb the brakes. Next year I will look at stripping the bike down and sorting out the rust patches on the chassis. I also want to strip and clean the carbs, fit an aftermarket exhaust and get on a Dyno to set up properly.

They are a classic bike that wasn't very popular in the UK to start with. They are relitively simple to work on, carbs, no computers, no ABS. Yes they are pretty slow compaired to modern bikes, but they weren't designed for speed were they? Mine has enough power for what I want it to do. So far I love it. When I go up to the H Cafe, it always attracts attention as do all the other classic bikes. They are cheap to insure and mine returns 46.8MPG and I haven't even had it set up properly yet (think its running rich)

Are they worth the money? Well they must be because whenever they come up for sale they sell very quick at the price you mentioned, and there is no shortage of buyers. Everytime I called about one they had sold. You can buy one knowing when you sell it it should sell for what you paid for it. Personally I don't want them shooting up in price because thats when the criminals become interested and then I will have to park it in my living room at night!!
