Not a terribly flattering comparison for the Duke that. Philip served with great distinction through almost the entirety of the war which would account for many of his medals. He's also a very intelligent man who consistently topped the grades in training. Amin on the other hand made most of his medals up and was as thick as pudding. Not to mention being one of the most ruthless nasty bastards of the 20th century. The royal family bring far more to this country in tourism than they take out.
But more importantly they bring patriotism.
The people that moan about the royals are the same people who would moan about a president if we had one.

Whatever you may think about the Monarchy, the Queen does a very good job IMO.

I for one adore Her Majesty the Queen. She is the greatest woman of our time. I had the honour and privilege to serve her, as a member of Her Majesty’s Armed Forces. I admire her dedication and commitment to duty. A truly amazing and inspiring woman the like of which, in our life time we’ll never see again.
Long may she continue to reign.
