Re: It's FORD FRIDAY at the ABR office
I might be up for a bit of that tomorrow, trouble is it might clean the Norfolk mud off my bike

This might be useful if your struggling to find a local ford;

An online guide to every UK ford, watersplash and tidal road
A county by county guide of splash-down river and low water crossings throughout the UK. Please take particular care when crossing all fords and floodwater (some tips and advice are available here). wetroads is simply a record of UK fords at the turn of the millenium and the inclusion of a ford in this guide does not guarantee that the ford is a public right of way or is safe to cross.

How to.......
How not to.......
Poor old Cogg’s, it killed his bike...!!! Re: It's FORD FRIDAY at the ABR office
Not quite a ford but a flooded road that was about 1/4 mile long, taken a couple of weeks ago though
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaim: "Wow, what a ride".

Re: It's FORD FRIDAY at the ABR office
Just back from checking out a ford about 8 miles from the ABR office which, in all honesty, I didn't fancy on the XT660Z. Now if I'd been on the DRZ...........
Anyway, it was about 2ft deep with a base of deep, sticky mud which you just sank into with ease. It's used as a crossing point for cows with little evidence of anything else using it other than the occasional farm tractor.
So, with time running out it was off to Traitors Ford, not a spectacular splash by any means but at least we ticked our Ford Friday box.
And getting to Traitors Ford was a lot of fun

Now there's a sign you don't see very often (read - never before), it's not even in the highway code.Alun wrote:
Nice.

Great ride out today Alun, didn't like the look of the boggy ford but would have been quite happy to witness your attempt if you would have been up to it
Any one who's on our ride out this Sunday is in for a treat, lanes have dried up nicely so road tyres won't be a problem.

Right then - it was not as easy I thought it was going to be, but the sun is shining and I had called the Chief Constable to let him know that Alun said I could have time off
This one that was down on the wetroads was now a bridle way
In fact most of the places that I rode to were a variable sea of 'public footpaths' I was starting to understand the anger and resentment that some bikers must feel when some group is trying to close one the 2% of B.O.A.Ts that are left to use.
I cannot express how strongly I now feel that these roads must be used and remain active in order to ensure they survive. I feel more compelled than ever that publishing roads is not only a good thing but a damn public service.
On I rode and I must say that it was a beautiful day zipping around the Lancashire back roads.
Hmmmm it's not for me. This is what you look like with no motorcycle - these people need YOUR help. For just £50 a month Benny and Donna need never look like this again....will YOU help a jogger. Call now 0800 555 555
