Gear adjustment GSA - Weird nut

Post by IntruderWithin »

Hi got some new SIDI's and now need to move my gear shift up as the boot is toooo big. Any ideas what the size and the tool head is called?

its a torx head, obviously cant tell you what size from a photo but an ordinary 12point socket or ring spanner will sort it. dont use a 6 point or open ended spanner, you'll round it off.
BMW are good at that sort of thing, trying to make it difficult for home mechanics. believe it or not there are plenty of saddo's out there that will take that kind of thing to the dealer

+1 Its a torx, possibly a T30 or 40.
You could do worse than spending some money on a reasonable priced male / female set, male being the equivalent of allen keys and female sockets... Halfords are very good for the money and as acurate as almost anything else out there.

If you got Sidi Adventure they are softer than you would think , on the sole .
If you stand on the pegs/peg to get on then lift the bike of the stand , They will slowly get worn out by the foot pegs same as if you do lots of standing whilst ridding off road .
I had to do the same moved the gear liver up a notch or two
Good boots good bike just to heavy off road on your own , I had a 2010 GSA with all the toys did 18000 miles in 7 months on it .

Its a "E8" external/female torx or whatever they call it, you could do worse than get this set from Halfrauds http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stor ... yId_255215 You will find a few on your GS if you are intending to do any work on it yourself.
Finally back on a GS :D

before I bought some Torx sockets I removed the offending bolt from my 800 with some mole grips and put a proper (hex head) bolt in

I bought this set from machine mart and find it so useful for small jobs on the bike
