It's looking like Liverpool to Dublin is the cheapest option for me. Travelled to a lot of places but never Ireland. Seems ridiculous as I'm only twenty minutes from the port! Im meant to be fishing that weekend, but going to see if I can get off the hook.

Using back roads, would a ride from Belfast or Dublin be more enjoyable Heff?

Hi Ainzy,

Depending on when you get into Dublin, if on Friday morning I would head north on the M1for about 50 miles, then take exit for Carlingford, from there follow the coast inland to Newry then head for Warrenpoint and follow the coast Road to Newcastle, a good place to stop and chill for a while.I would then make my way to Draperstown from there via Castlewellan, Banbridge, Portadown, Moy, Cookstown

Just be aware if you intend to use the motorway, or the tunnel if heading north from Dublin port, you will incur Tolls, one for the tunnel and a second on the motorway. These tolls are in EUROS. The motorway toll is one euro for a bike, but the tunnel toll varies dependent on the time of day. Costs more at peak times but cant recall how much as I rarely use it.

Nice one Gaz, shame you could not make it there around lunch as i could have met up with you. Anyway once you get that fish supper down your neck, get yourself to your b&b, then across to the Sheperds Rest where there will be a pint of the black stuff waitng for you (thumbs)

Ferry all booked and raring to go, looking forward to my 2nd trip to Ireland. Hoping to do a bit of exploring all over, no plans really, so just think I'll see where the roads take me.
Packing my fly rod to hook a few trout for dinner, should be easy to find water, no shortage of lakes or rivers in Ireland!
