storing aNd using extra gpx files...

Post by Tramp »

Okay..so your away on a trip have planned  lots of nice routes or tracks on basecamp or whatever...load them into the garmin gpx folder on the satnav..

Nuvi,zumo,montana,etrex

But it wont hold or except them all :woohoo: ...so short of tzk8ng a netbook along with others saved and transfere as needed...been there done that carted all the damn leads etc...

Is it possible to store the additional files either routes or tracks on a micro sdcard on the unit like we do with topo maps in a folder named garmin gpx...

Then when weve used the gpx files in the internal garmin memory we delete them then download....somehow the other foles for the rest if the trip...

Particularly with tdacks and waypoints totalling 20,000 for 2 days ride in a 10 day tour..

So who,s done it ....please enlighten the dumb

Most of Garmins new GPS units can have files transfered to them via Bluetooth. You can also purchase a larger capacity micro SD card and transfer your maps to it leaving plenty of memory capacity for all your routes. :)

Are you worried about your Satnav or your etrex.

Your Satnav you should just be able to swap cards or get a bigger card.
On your [strike]Durex[/strike] etrex with you having mapping onyour card not the system it might be more difficult. In which case it may be easier and save space to take a second etrex.  With the second half of you trips rides stored and ready to go (thumbs)
