I too would be very interested to hear some first hand experiences. At present I have migrated from being a staunch Garmi supporter (through many devices) to being an Android phone convert. However, I am wedded to what works best for me, not any particular brand of GPS device.

Yes a Tripy user here. It needs some training but once you get used to it a great device. Takes all kinds of data files on- and offroad. You can even make routes on the Road Tracer software where there are no roads by using the beacon mode. The screen has superb visibility in full sunlight, and is of a size where I need no reading glasses. This was one of the reasons why I bought it  It is not cheap but worth every euro !

Go through the https://www.youtube.com/user/TripyChannel to learn all about it.

It's brilliant for using (digital) roadbooks.

For navigating it's rubbish. Not that it doesn't point you the right way because it does that but it has 4 buttons and with those you do everything including entering an address for example.
It doesn't have a touch screen...
It doesn't show you the detail a regular (Garmin type) satnav does.

It's a monochrome screen so if you are used to a colour screen you wil have to get used to that too.
Price wise it's more or less in the same range as a new Montana.
It'll end in tears I tells ya.

It's a digital roadbook creator/follower its not really a GPS per se, or rather shouldnt be used as one.

Also, they are the most unreliable device ever created by man. Avoid at all costs.

You likely know this, but Garmin can do you a swap replacement unit for about £100 (IIRC.)

To put my comment into context, last year I was at a rally where they had a class for tripy users. The orga provided all the units (over 30) and all but 2 of them went tits up due to water, vibration, dust, you name it. IMO they are simply not fit for purpose.

Just replaced my Montana 650T for a newer model 680T and cost me £135. (Kept cutting out and freezing)

They also updated my City Navigator maps from 2014 to the latest 2017 maps FOC.

They say to remove the battery and memory cards and the new one came with a new battery. (I now have a spare battery)
