Wanted a sat nav on the bike for a while :whistle: so thinks

1)... Don't want to spend loads on a specialist item :pinch:
Try using car sat naf in a givi waterproof case Can't see the screen due to glare :pinch: Cant hear directions as no Bluetooth output and no speaker socket outlet :pinch:

2) ... Try Tomtom app on android phone Again cant see due to glare B) volume restrictor on phone means cant hear directions that clearly (well I am deaf ol' twat :whistle: )Then phone won't run sat naf when plugged into power :pinch: so battery dies quickly

3) ... Bite the bullet and buy a proper bike sat naf Garmin 660LM should arrive tomorrow (thumbs) Still a lot of dosh, but still a lot cheaper than the new 590LM. Cant say having windy roads choice on the 590 is really worth an extra £200 :pinch: can you

You won't be disappointed with the 660, the windy roads thing is crap anyway :whistle: I have tried it out on mine and it's not worth the effort tbh your better off having a look on base camp when your planning your bimble (thumbs)

Thanks Eric (thumbs) Must admit to using Tyre for bimble planning on my car NUVI. Never quite got my head round base camp :pinch: but there is still time B)

Since my (car) satnav died on the bike last Sept, I've been in a constant dilemma whether to replace it with a bike one or not. The 550 / 660's still go for quite a lot of dosh on ebay.

Hi Elle I had a car satnav die on my bike a while back, an internal connector had vibrated loose. Did you try fixing it?

I have a 660 which is great. I paid £300 for mine as it was a recon unit with a years warranty.

People thing that the 660 is expensive..well it is but don't forget for the price you get £100 worth of hard wired mounting bracket.

It works with very thick gloves and is ok in sunlight..not great but readable. It's totally waterproof and just works well.

I use it as a media centre more than a sat nav. I run music, audio books and take-make phones calls from it.

Of all the crap i have bought for my bikes this is the single best thing. It makes long motorway rides through france so easy.

You won't regret it.

I got a Tom Tom urban rider off ebay for £60......well happy with that purchase.

The Zumo 660 is a great piece of kit - very robust. Mine (3yrs old) has been baked in Morocco and Spain, been through loads of heavy rain in France/UK and submerged (!!) several times in Wales.
Use it in the car too!

Get a good, secure lockable mount for bike use. I use the Touratwat lockable mount, which has proven to be good (should be at the price!)
