Norfolk Lane Under Threat.
This lane a little way short of Swaffham is one of my favourite.
The reason given for its closure to vehicles is not correct , it is narrow and would be a struggle in a four wheeled vehicle it very accessible and safe on a motorcycle.

Re: Norfolk Lane Under Threat.
was out yesterday and saw a byway sign post that had 'restricted byway' printed on it, which I thought was weird as I've never seen this kind of sign before and it looked like a new wooden post and sign. Does this mean that the date restrictions will be posted there for when it is restricted or does it mean that you cant ride it at all????

You could ask the TRF 'rights of road' director for advice...although the TRF's current record on saving rights of way is patchy to say the least.

Re: Norfolk Lane Under Threat.
My understanding is that a restricted byway is not open to motorised vehicles just pedestrians, cyclists, horse riders and horses and carriages. The difference between a restricted byway and a bridleway is its legal use by horses and carriages

Please any East Anglian Trail Riders or Trail Riders intending to visit please make an objection this is a beautiful 2 mile long trail there is no substantive or even handed reason to make it a restricted byway.

Re: Norfolk Lane Under Threat.
Hi Pete , can't do clever stuff with OS maps its the I rode with you years ago when you lead a ride from Thetford to Hunstanton the lane is in 3 parts the first 2 just south of Cockley Cley where the Ist lane ends and you ride north for about quarter of a mile to 2nd section the 2nd section is separated from the 3rd section by the width of a road and the 3rd section ends on the Swaffham to Newmarket road 2 or 3 miles south of Swaffham , its mostly single track.Hope that helps.

Re: Norfolk Lane Under Threat.
I tried searching the Norfolk CC website and couldn’t find anything with that reference
There must surely be a map accompanying the order and maybe a consultation start and finish date.
TRF members up there who know where this is should write to [email protected] asap and ask them what they are doing about it.
