Greetings,
I thought that you might like to know that the anti motorists are planning for more closures in the Lake District.
They claim that our use will cause the removal of the UNESCO status and have started a petition at;
https://www.change.org/p/to-the-ceo-of- ... nning-4x4s
The picture they use shows a local company driving a route, great let's close down another employer and put even more folk on to the unemployment figures for the Lake District..
Well, there is an alternative petition which I ask that we all need to sign please;

Lake District proposed TRO.

Yes, I saw the "anti" one too! That sort of nonsense has been peddled by the "Anti" brigade for years, and here in South Wales we've lost quite a few routes ... so I've signed the petition to keep the lanes open.
(Don't use the bike "off-(tarmac)road" nowadays, but did a fair bit of Land Rover greenlaning in a previous life )

Has anyone ever seen the Mitchell and Webb SS sketch? The one where David Mitchell’s character notices they are wearing skulls as cap badges and asks “Are we the bad guys?”
I came across this thread from last year and my first reaction was one of indignation that yet another byway was potentially lost to the Anti’s
I checked out the pro petition and was impressed that over 10,000 people had signed it. “Ha!, that’ll show em!”
Then I had a look at the Anti’s petition and over 300,000 people had signed it! Three effing hundred effing thousand!!
Now I’ll admit I’m not familiar with the route and as such am really not qualified to comment.
BUT...
It it crosses my mind that (with the sheer weight of numbers for the Anti argument) that maybe, just possibly, we might be in the wrong here?
