Chapel Gate to close for good
Despite the protests & demo's the pdnpa carried on, because TRF are the minority-Ralph- wrote:So what are the TRF saying about this? This was seen as a landmark battle wasn't it?

Not in the slightest but without a louder voice this is going to carry on happening and the only way to achieve that is to get more people to join.-Ralph- wrote:Why, is it another members only secret? I've taken the view that if anyone cares enough about the future of 'green lanes' they'll join one of the groups actively trying to keep them open and if they don't join they don't really care.

I'll second that; the TRF need every penny they can to fight to keep the lanes open or eventually there won't be anywhere to ride at all. Doom-mongering? maybe. Realistic? possibly. Inevitable? That's up to us .

Can't echo the sentiment loud enough. The TRF do a hell of a job trying to keep a lot of people in one of their hobbies/pass times and they need all the help they can get.
Get on over and help them out if you have ever ridden a green lane and enjoyed it, currently ride them or fancy riding one in the future (beford they are all gone)

Ok, great, now we've got past the sarcasm and started talking seriously, lets try the question again. What are the TRF saying about it? What do they think it means for the rest of the lanes in the national park, is it going to strengthen the lobbyists going after the deregulation bill.AndyB wrote:Not in the slightest but without a louder voice this is going to carry on happening and the only way to achieve that is to get more people to join.-Ralph- wrote:Why, is it another members only secret? I'm not going to join the TRF (at this moment in time) because I haven't ridden more than the odd UK green lane as a shortcut or detour in about two years. You're absolutely right I don't really care what gets closed or what doesn't, and I think its a loosing battle, but I do like to stay abreast of developments. Much like I don't really care about most of what gets reported on the news, I still like to watch it.

Or there will be everywhere to ride because it'll all be illegal so people will just go where they want.PaulinBont wrote:I'll second that; the TRF need every penny they can to fight to keep the lanes open or eventually there won't be anywhere to ride at all. -Ralph- that reminded me of the famous poem by MARTIN NIEMÖLLER-Ralph- wrote:I'm not going to join the TRF (at this moment in time) because I haven't ridden more than the odd UK green lane as a shortcut or detour in about two years. Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out--

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out--
Because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me--and there was no one left to speak for me."
Don't "not" join the TRF because you don't ride green lanes now, join so that should you choose to in the future you still have the option to.
