I have tried to upload a new pic to my profile as the new forum has merged my old profile pic across. When trying to upload it says maximum of 6kb. I don't even think that's possible to shrink the pic to that size?

There will be a free program to reduce it- try paint or favicon maker

marcus try changing your new pic by cropping it sort of square then saving as a .png or a .gif then using a program like this http://www.shrinkpictures.com/create-avatar/
