Long Distance Trials

Post by stanbloke »

Well then, I don't do a lot of road miles anymore but I do want to do plenty of things with my 400.

I don't have the speed to enter offroad events but the Long Distance Trials have my attention. I have a drz so that will do for my novice efforts.

Anyone on here do these events ?. Any advice or pointers would be appreciated .

Cheers.

I did one last year in Braintree Essex run by the Braintree MCC on a ktm exc 350. It was good fun and navigated via a road book which I had never used before and although we entered as a team I did manage most of the road book and about half of the trials sections I managed not to fall off on (they were quite tricky) and when green laning or enduro you are encouraged to dab a foot but its a definite no no on a trial section, which saw me literally topple over in a comedy tumble too many times, but really enjoyed it and didn't come last!! you wont either. Give it a go its a hoot.

Good luck :)

I've done a few and am scheduled for a couple more in the next month or two.

The next one I am doing The Sphinx (run by the Cheltenham Home Guard) on April 19th (£30 incl refreshments before and after). I did it last year and it was fantastic.

Yes good fun and a very sociable bunch too.
On one event I had my 2nd puncture of the day and had already used my spare tube but two guys stopped, gave me a tube and helped me fit it (thumbs) .
Not ridden one since 2010 so not sure of the rules these days but we tended to use trials rear and enduro front.
Open your eyes and you see what is in front of you, open your mind and you see a bigger picture but open your heart and you see a whole new World.

That video is funny... it looks really hard, the one i did was hard but not that hard! although your 400 should be just about nimble enough (thumbs)
