Re: Name the locations?
Got it in one Jackdaw. It in the Plaza in front of the Cathdreal, where the pilgrimage ends. Although it's a'living statue' - busking for money in effect and nothing to do with the pilgrimage itself.jackdaw wrote:Santiago de Compostela. As you say, the scallop shell is the symbol of the pilgrimage although I'm not sure of the 'kissing' everyone takes on eaway with them. There's also a stone that they all lay thier hands on whihc, during the nine centuries of use, has developed the outlibe of a human hand, such is the infinitessiomally small but nevertheless real wear on the stone at every touch!
Cheers and thanks for taking the time.

PS - the other hint was in the place name . 'Praza' is Gallego (Gallician that is) for 'Plaza'

Got to be former Soviet Union but where, Kiev? I'm saying this for no better reason that I watch the cup final from a native of that fine town the other night - along with several dozen other [strike]drunks[/strike] genuine soccer enthusiasts!flipflopdog wrote:
Or maybe the Stalingrad memorial?

Meanwhile here's one that so hot off the disk that it's crap - maybe I'll have to go back tomorrow and try again!
Hint - the mountains in the background, that is to say on the other side of a certain body of water - they are there honest! - are the reason for the photo!
Anyone who's following my tour is banned from entering this one 'cause they know where I've been headed
