Some photies from the weekends visit . . .
Stalling Busk
No idea why the wall needed a wash down
Then a scenic piccie on our way too . . .
. . . Cam Road High
Popped into Hawes for tea & nibbles after we came off of the Cam road and managed to get the timing just right . . . before the biking hoards from everywhere descended for a brew.
Then it was off towards Kirkby Stephen to ride part of the monument trail.
Sunday as we entered back onto home turf. . .
Approx. 810 miles -what better way to spend your weekend is there?

Re: Dales Trails 2022
Steve,
Thanks for the kind comment re the piccies
We didn't see another bike on any of the trails, just one tractor . . . and the driver was holding the gate open for us, which was nice and just two small groups of walkers.
Tis indeed a great place to take the larger trail bikes - not challenging but still out of the way and with fantastic views when the clouds have stopped emptying themselves.

Re: Dales Trails 2022
Hawes is the best location to start either Stalling Busk or Cam Rd High. We started at Carpley Green farm and turned for Stalling Busk along the track, then down past the resevoir, Semer Water, up the hill and took a left up Cam Rd High.Onenoodles wrote: ↑Tue May 24, 2022 11:30 am ... where is the best start point so I can look it up on the OS Maps please?
The small village of Outhgill on the B6259 for the Monument trail.

Re: Dales Trails 2022
Hi, good pictures and it sounds like a cracking trip , ive ridden Cam High Road and Stalling Busk in the past on my XR400 but not done it for a few years now but i was interested how you got on with your F800gs on those routes as i may be doing it myself on an F800 but i would be solo do you think its a sensible idea as im no riding God and the GS is new to me, i remember not having any problems on the XR but its a good bit lighter.
Im going to try and find the Monument Trail as i hav'nt heard of it before.
thanks again for the write up.

Re: Dales Trails 2022
Scooby,
I've done harder trails on the F8GS - Dodd Fell and the Coach Rd before they were graded, and the bike, even with me (the weakest link) steering it, managed no bother . Even managed to keep it up-right on both trails
I have always ridden with another rider just for the reasons/problems that you and most riders have a worry over, so I cannot give any words on your doing it solo.
I don't consider myself a good off road rider, just one who is careful. I had to pick my bike up once on the Saturday and picking up a F8GS from rutted slab rock wasn't that hard. By the time my riding pal had noticed my absence behind him (he IS an off-road ridng god by the way), I'd got the bike up, out of the rut and was mounted ready to go again.
Enjoy your ride,
Steve T
