Wow! Some great shots of old Weymouth there. And by coincidence my Mum lives overlooking the harbour on the other side from the old ferry/rail head, and she used to own and run the tea shop in Milton Abbas, until about 1992 or so.

Every couple of years they have an 18th Century day in Milton Abbas. All motor vehicles are banned and period costumes encouraged. When mum had the tea shop I helped out that day dressed as GayLord, the Lord of the Manor - and I flounced around the village a bit like Hugh Laurie in Blackadder, throwing tomatoes at vagabonds in the stocks and slapping wenches etc. Drank a hell of a lot of mead and fell asleep under a tree, I think.

I like the shot of one of the big diesel locos that used to go right through Weymouth high street and down to the harbour. Shame it just missed that Allegro - would have done the owner a favour.

Thanks Dave.

There's a lot of mead drinking and falling asleep under trees in Dorset.

That's a good one too. Gold Hill Shaftesbury.

So that was an advert narrated in a Yorkshire accent, supposedly depicting a Yorkshire lad delivering the bread, accompanied by a Yorkshire pit brass band.

But it was actually filmed in Dorset, and the music was all about visiting America, and was composed by a Czech !
